Primesure Newsletter: Winter 2026

Kia Ora and welcome to our Winter newsletter
As we move through the middle of the year, we're continuing to see changes across the regulatory landscape that can affect both businesses and personal insurance arrangements. Staying informed about these changes is an important part of ensuring your cover remains appropriate and there are no surprises when you need it most. In this edition, we've included an update on the new methamphetamine contamination regulations for rental properties, along with a few updates from our team, community initiatives, and one of our valued clients. As always, our focus is on helping clients navigate change with clarity and confidence. Thank you for your continued trust and support. Cheers, Cam Cameron Hollis, MD |

Important Update for Landlords: New Methamphetamine Contamination RegulationsFrom 16 April 2026, new regulations introduced clear, science-based standards for managing methamphetamine contamination in rental properties. These changes are particularly relevant to house insurance policies where the home is tenanted, especially where meth contamination testing or remediation may be required. Under the new rules, a rental property is officially considered contaminated if methamphetamine residue exceeds 15 micrograms per 100cm² (15µg/100cm²). As a result, for insurance cover to respond, residue levels generally need to exceed this threshold. The new regulations also provide greater clarity around how meth contamination should be managed, including requirements for decontamination, professional testing and the handling of heavily contaminated properties. What landlords should know
Landlords are encouraged to review their insurance arrangements and ensure they understand how these changes may affect claims involving meth contamination. If you would like to discuss your cover, please contact our team. |

Staff Update |

It’s an exciting time at Primesure, with two of our team celebrating special family milestones. We’re delighted to share that Dina and Julian have welcomed a healthy baby boy. Dina has recently started her maternity leave, and we wish their family all the very best as they enjoy this special time. Sarah will begin her maternity leave in October as her family looks forward to welcoming their second child. While Dina and Sarah will certainly be missed, we’ve been preparing behind the scenes to ensure everything continues to run smoothly for our clients. |

For commercial property owners in particular, the changes may have a noticeable impact on the levy component of their insurance costs.
